Paul Robey first appeared on Leicester Sound in 1987, mainly covering for other presenters when they were on holiday, although he was the regular Saturday late night presenter from 1987-90. He also presented regular shows on GEM AM following it's launch in October 1988. In addition to this, he was head of music for the Radio Trent group of stations from 1988 - 1992. Following GWR buying Midlands Radio plc, Paul was appointed Programme Controller for the Classic Gold Network, responsible for all the Classic Gold stations across the country.
In 1998, he left Classic Gold to fulfill another ambition, to run a smaller ILR station. This station, Fosseway Radio, serving Hinckley and South West Leicestershire, launched in November 1998, with Paul as Managing Director and Morning Show presenter. He then became Deputy Director of Programming for the Lincs FM group (of which Fosseway is a part).
In late 2002 Paul moved to Saga 106.6 FM, the new regional station for the East Midlands, where he was Programme Controller for the new station from it's launch in 2003 until shortly after it was rebranded Smooth Radio in March 2007.
Paul can now be heard covering on BBC Radio Leicester and has a regular slot on BBC Radio Nottingham on Sunday afternoons and BBC Radio Lincolnshire on Saturday mornings
