DIGITAL RADIO
Digital Radio is new way of transmitting radio signals. Using digital technology, more signals can be broadcast in the same space, therefore more services are available to listeners.
Each group of services is known as a mulitplex. In Britain, there are 2 national multiplexes, one for the BBC and one for commercial radio. There are also multiplexes in several local areas, and Leicester's is now on air, having launched in December 2002

This is broadcast on frequency block 12B and transmits the following services.
BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra
DIGITAL ONE MULTIPLEX
This transmits on frequency block 11D in England and Wales and 12A in Scotland, and transmits the following services.

COVENTRY MULTIPLEX
This broadcasts on frequency block 12D and transmits the following services
YAR - A new service for young Asians in Coventry and Warwickshire

Kix 96 - Coventry's No 1 Hit Music Station
Sunrise Radio - Asian station
Access Channel - Programmes for the whole community, including shows from SBN
WEST MIDLANDS MULTIPLEX
This broadcasts on frequency block 12A and transmits the following services
Smooth - Relaxing music from the Guardian Media Group
Digital News Network - Rolling news for the West Midlands
LEICESTER MULTIPLEX
This broadcasts on frequency block 11B and transmits the following services
Asian Plus - Service for young Asians from Sabras Radio
