DANNY COX
Danny Cox was heard very regularly on Leicester Sound during the late 80's and early 90's.From March 1987 he presented the Afternoon Show on Radio Trent 945 in Derby, but prior to that had made many apperances on the station, usually filling in whilst other DJ's were on holiday. He took over The Weekly Top 30 from John Peters following the launch of GEM AM in October 1988, and early in 1989 was made the new host of Nightlife, the 8pm-midnight show which had previously been presented by Rob Wagstaff. He presented Nightlife for a short period before handing over to Colin Wooley, but continued to present the Weekly Top 30. This continued to be heard on Leicester Sound until the end of 1991 (it was simulcast on Trent FM as well), but following Leicester Sound's switch to sharing evening and weekend programmes with Mercia FM instead of Trent FM, Danny was heard on the station much less.
He continued to present The Weekly Top 30 and a Saturday afternoon show on Trent FM until late 1993, and had the honour of presented the celebratory 18th birthday show for Trent on July 3rd 1993. Later in that year he left to become Station Manager at SGR Colchester, which was being set up at the time, and following SGR's takeover by GWR, Danny left and went to FOX FM in Oxford, where he presented the weekday morning show for a time, and the afternoon show as well as the Saturday brekafast show.
Danny left Fox FM during 2004 and is now working at BBC Radio Oxford, where he presents weekday mornings from 10.00am - 1.00pm, and a Sunday afternoon show from 5.00pm - 8.00pm
