If
lengthy, Doom laden riffs and
powerful, sombre melodies are what turn you on, then this new CD from
Finnish
band Swallow the Sun is just what you’re looking for.
If,
like me you love band like My
Dying Bride, Novembers Doom and the like then New Moon is going to be an
essential purchase. Lets face it when
you see the titles of tracks like “These Woods Breath Evil”, “Weight Of
The
Dead” and “Servant Of Sorrow” you know exactly what to expect and you
wont get
any nasty surprises here, just absolutely superbly crafted Doom Metal at
its
absolute best. The musicianship is
flawless and there is not one song on here that doesn’t deserve to be.
I
know that not everyone likes Doom
Metal but for me there is beauty in the darkness that cannot be denied
and when
its really good it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end
and this
album does it for me several times, there is something very powerful and
primordial about this type of music that is so rewarding, go on try it
bug you
have to give it your total attention.
