JUSTIN’S METAL REVIEWS W/C 1/9/08

DESTRUCTION / D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N

Destruction is the longest serving German Thrash Metal band and throughout their 26 year’s they have had a few changes but have managed to keep their identity and consistency.

This is Destructions 10th studio album and 2008 finds them in fine form, their brand of Thrash Metal, (similar to Overkill / Testament) is merciless, relentless and unyielding but very rewarding.  There is nothing groundbreaking on here but what you do get is Thrash at its neck breaking best and there is not one of the 10 tracks that is in anyway substandard, right from the start of the title track “Devolution”, which starts off with a very nice acoustic riff before unleashing the Metal, to the last track “No One Shall Survive” the quality control is set to max, as are the tight industrial strength guitar riffs and really tight rhythm section.  You can’t go wrong with tracks as strong as “Elevator To Hell”, “Vicious Circle (7 Deadly Sins) “, “Urge (The Greed Of Cain)” or “Offenders Of The Throne”.

I find it totally amazing that there are still Metal fans that don’t have any Destruction albums in their collection, if this is you rectify this now by buying this awesome CD and if you want to catch up quickly buy the “Thrash Anthems” CD that is a re-recorded best of.
