ROTTED, THE / GET DEAD OR DIE
TRYING
Formally know as Gorotted and now
shortened to the Rotted, this British band create bludgeoning Death Metal with a
Punk attitude, which makes for a real lethal combination of a brutal mind-set
that takes no prisoners.
The heady mix well crafted Death Metal kicks off with the
superb “Nothing But A Nosebleed” and the brutal, aggressiveness doesn’t let up
until the quirky, haunting, slow instrumental called “A Brief Moment Of Regret”
that sounds like it came out of a Taranteno
movie. The other thing I like about
this band is their wry sense of humour, just check out some of the song titles
“Kissing You With My First”, “Return To Insolence”, “Get Dead Or Die Trying”,
not to mention “Angel Of Meth” (a nod to Slayer me thinks) and my personal
favourite “Its Like There’s A Party In My Mouth (And Everybody’s Being Sick).
Overall this is a very impressive album and the slight name
change seems to have re-invigorated the band and I can see how this will create
new fans and keep the old ones happy as well. Also listen out for “The Howling”, “Fear
And Loathing In
