OBITUARY / FROZEN IN TIME

This is the welcome return of an old friend, its been a long 8 years since their last album "Back From The Dead" and that title is very apt as is "Frozen In Time" because that’s exactly what this CD sounds like.

So why did we have to wait so long, may be we had to wait for the world to catch up with these guys and the times right for them now, they weren’t exactly big first time but they did get a good reputation in the intervening years in the Death Metal circle and a lot of Metal fans missed them the first time around so now is a good time to catch up with them. Their style ahs been up dated a bit but basically it’s the same Obituary we have come to love over the years, their riffs are bone wrenchingly good and the vocal style is different to most of the competition these days and when they kick off with the instrumental track "Redneck Stomp" they leave you with no ambiguities as to where they stand, "Insane" and "Slow Death" are both very good mid tempo numbers that deserve credit in anyone’s book.

If you missed these guys the first time around, don’t make the same mistake twice, check them out and then go and find their Anthology CD to get an idea of their back catalogue. Welcome back.
