HYPOCRISY / VIRUS

I have to admit that I do love so reviewing it is going to be biased but Hypocrisy are in my mind one of the creative and distinctive Melodic Death Metal bands in the world and whets more Pete Tagtgren is one of those vocalists that has a unique voice, so here is why I like them.

The band have always come up with the goods and despite being a little obsessed with Aliens they make some stunning Metal, the layered harmonies on the vocals and guitars make their sound, technically flawless but they still have the aggression and if anything this CD is actually heavier than the last one, even darker, more introverted but that doesn’t mean you loose out on the classic guitar riffs and fluidic lead breaks, check out the track "Fearless" to understand where Pete is coming from. The tracks "War Path" and "Scrutinized" come thundering at you like a Panzer tank and lay to waste all before them and with track titles like "Craving For Another Killing" and "Let The Knife D The Talking" you know exactly what to expect and you’re not disappointed. They do have their lighter side as "A Thousand Lies" starts off with a hauntingly beautiful refrain before bludgeoning you from behind when you least expect it.

You cant call yourself a Metal fan if you don’t have this and as usual there is a free DVD with the first pressing that contains a complete live set that shows how good the band are live.
