BRUCE DICKINSON / TYRANNY OF SOULS
Somehow in between being an Airline Pilot, writing and touring with Iron Maiden, presenting a weekly show on 6 Music and having a home life, Bruce has managed to write and record another solo album with Guitarist / Producer Roy Z.
His last solo outing "Chemical Wedding" was very well received and I see no reason why this should not go down as well as it has all the ingredients and is as good. The Roy Z partnership works well and it does distance the sound of the band from Maiden, there are a few slower songs like the acoustically driven "Navigate The Seas Of The Sun" but he still rocks out with tracks like "Abducted" and "Belevil". If you like Maiden you will like this and if you don’t you may still like it.
When you consider that this was recorded in a short space of time and Bruce had cracked ribs as well, it’s a damn fine album, just one thing for gods sake slow down you make the rest of us look inadequate. Best tracks: "Abducted", "Soul Intruders", the haunting "Kill Devil Hill"and "Believil".
