Lets face it we have all heard the joke’s about Drummers, "What do you call a person who hangs around with musicians?" being a popular one but never underestimate the power of a good Drummer, they can make a big difference, imagine Led Zeppelin without Bonham! And both the recent albums by High on Fire and Primordial would have been totally different CD’s.

So when I heard the first track off the new Chimaira CD "Nothing Remains" I was totally blown away, it was full of powerful, dynamic riffs, with some clever time changes and a staccato, off beat riff at the end full of Slayerism and absolutely awesome, what had changed, the answer a new drummer in the form of ex Misery Index man Kevin Talley. He has managed to re vitalize the band and influenced the guitar riffs and made the band a lot heavier and to my mind this is the best album they have done by far and this is just the first track. There re more stabbing riffs during "Inside The Horror" and the lead in guitar phrase on "Salvation" is totally inspired. The slower paced "Lazarus" is a track of epic proportions and shows the bands new found power off brilliantly and I haven’t even mentioned "Bloodlust" or "Comatose" both of which are just as good.

Don’t miss out on a really good Metal CD; even if you didn’t like Chimaira before you will like them now, I’m sure this will be a Metal Classic in a few years.
