BIOMECHANICAL / EMPIRES OF THE WORLDS
This is Biomechanical’s 2nd album and (the first for Earache) and sonically it’s a mix of Cowboy era Panter with Painkiller Judas Priest and some VERY Heavy Progressive Metal mixed in for good measure, this is 21st British Century Metal at its best.
Right form the first track "Enemy Within" its fierce, intense, vibrant, technical and addictive as hell and when the vocalist starts screaming like Rob Halford use to do you get the thought, why couldn’t the new Priest CD sound like this. At times it reminds me of Emperor, epically the last 4 part track "Absolution" which is as challenging as Emperor at their best and the production by Andy Sneap is superb throughout. This CD has been touted as the future of Metal and when you hear the tight guitars riffs, coupled with the technically proficient and ever twisting rhythm section you can see why is has been said.
Best tracks; "Empires Of The World", "Long Time Dead", "Existenz" and "Enemy Within".
