AKERCOCKE / WORDS THAT GO UNSPOKEN

If you thought "Choronzon" was good then you’re in for a treat because this is even better and even the major upheaval of changing guitarist hasn’t hampered them, in fact it has given them a harder edge.

I wasn’t sure how an ex Bezereker was going to fit in, after all its quite a change but if anything its helped the band expand their soundscape and despite this or because of it they have written a stronger, more diverse album, full of dynamics, creativity, with a dark intensity and dare I say it, a progressive edge, Progressive Black Metal! Listen to the track "Shelter From The Sand" and what you have is a microcosm of the whole album with more different phases than the moon, the lead off track "Verdelet" starts like a typical Black Metal song but open up into to something very special, pushing the boundaries of the genre, hell even the samples they use for the keyboards are so different from anyone else’s it makes them sound quite unique.

Other tracks to listen for: "Seduced" and "Eyes Of The Dawn". This is probably going to be the best Black Metal album of the year, I can’t see anyone topping it for originality or sheer experimentation and their sound is as far removed from Cradle Of Filth or Dimmu Borgir as you can get. If you don’t normally like Black Metal you should love this, it’s impossible not to like it. Fantastic.
