ROTTING CHRIST / SANCTUS DIAVOLOS

This Greek Black Metal band just keep getting better and better, just when you think they must have run out of ideas they add a new twist to their music.

The last CD "Genesis" was probably their biggest to date and like its predecessor it was full of dark power and menacing undertones but still managed to surprise and impress and that is just what their latest does. The use of choral work and samples throughout this album makes for a very powerful mix, like a Black Metal version of Therion and works on several levels and adds to the demonic, threatening, yet beautiful soundscape. Even the rhythmic structure of the songs are different to other bands for an example of this listen to the brooding "athanati Este" and the title track, the latter of which features a demonic chanting voice.

There are faster songs on here with some very impressive guitar work, "Visions Of A Blind Order" and "Shades Of Evil" for example both of which feature exquisite lead guitar work in them. I for one cant get enough of this CD and I know others will be similar affected, one guy in particular an Italian called Angelo who use to come up me every time he was in the club asking have you got any Rotting Christ, Angelo where ever you are, enjoy and the answer was always yes.
