RAMMSTEIN / REISE, REISE

The success and pressure of "Mutter" nearly split the band apart but thankfully it didn’t, it has made them stronger, in not more introverted and it’s this background that makes Reise, Reise a strong album.

The CD kick off with the stirring title track and then goes into the first European single "Mein Teil" a true tail of love with cannibalistic tendencies and very tasty it is too. The song "Keine Lust" is another riff filled song and even if you don’t spracken ze Dauch you will still find yourself singing along in no time, the track "Los" is acoustic driven and adds anew dimension to Rammstein.

The track "Amerika" is not a pro American song but is actually about how Corporate Globalization is covertly destroying cultures across the world. Seemingly innocent products like Mickey Mouse, Santa Claus, Coca Cola and Wonderbra, (all of who are mentioned in the song) are subverting national identity and imposing American ideals and culture upon the rest of the unsuspecting world. The fact that the song is sung in German and not English can be seen as an act of defiance against this trend or it could just be they cant sing in English, either way it’s a damn fine song. The next track "Moskau" counterbalances very nicely and there are even Russian lyrics in the chorus.
