NFD / NO LOVE LOST

Completely out of the blue came this CD and it turns out to be one of the most original and enjoyable that I have had the privilege of hearing. It features members of Fields Of The Nephilim and evokes the sound of the Sisters Of Mercy, Hawkwind and even Killing Joke at times, beautiful, haunting, enigmatic with trance like melodies, great incessant guitar work all under pinned by some great dance beats.

It goes under the guise of Gothic Rock but that hardly describes the fantastic noise that comes flooding through the headphones, the music is dark, brooding almost menacing at times but has a sombre beauty and it makes you want to get up and dance, the songs have an almost hymn like quality to them, simple repetitive but thought provoking and you will find yourself singing along to them in no time.

This is so different to anything else I can hardly do justice to what they do, John Peel would have loved this, I’m sure he would have said it reminded him in some ways of Joy Division. Best tracks, the stirring "Awaken, Pt 1 & 2", "Blackened", Turbine" and conceptual "Enraptured" which features looped samples, with guitars and is very Avant-Garde but bloody brilliant.
