MOONSORROW / SUDEN UNI
Euro Metal is stronger now than it has ever been; there is so much good material out at the moment it’s hard to keep up with it. This Finnish band Moonsorrow are no exception and their brand of Folk laden Death Metal is a joy to listen to, their sound is similar to Borknagar, Cradle Of Filth and Naglfar, heavy but laced with some very melodic touches thanks to the Folk influences.
All the songs are sung in their native tongue but this never hurt Rammstein did it and let’s face it hearing what they sing is not of prime importance in the genre. The vocals are a mix of gruff and straight vocals and they are done very well indeed. The guitars are riff laden and will please any harden Death Metal fan.
The Folk influence does help them stand out from the crowd and amongst the mix is if I am not mistaken a Jew harp and what sounds like an accordion and it works well.
Stand out tracks well I couldn’t pronounce them even if I could read them but it doesn’t matter when the material is as strong as this and to think this is just a re release of their first CD.
