EXODUS / TEMPO OF THE DAMNED

This was an impulse buy, I don’t often do this as it can lead to some terrible results, however on this occasion I was fairly certain I was on safe ground.   Exodus are one of the original Bay Area Thrashers and as such still command a lot of respect, even though they haven’t released a studio album since 1990, their album "Bonded By Blood" is one of the all time classics and while this is not a classic it is a very good CD.

There sound is similar to early Megadeth and Annihilator with a vocalist a bit like Bon Scott, relentless, digitally precise mid tempo riffs that shred like there is no tomorrow and will leave you with a neck ache, set your air guitar to stun.  You will Mosh.  All of the lyrics are articulate, intellectual, with a caustic, socio-political leaning, analysing the current state of the American psyche and some clever twists to the titles like; "Scar Spangled Banner", Shroud Of Urine", "Sealed With A Fist" and "War Is My Shepard" to name but a few.  This is a good solid Metal CD and it’s nice to have the guy’s back, what have you been doing for the last 14 years?.

As a bonus there is a cover of the AC/DC classic "Dirty, Deeds, Done Dirt Cheap" included on the digi pack version.
