CHASM, THE / THE SPELL OF RETRIBUTION

This is the latest release from a Mexican three piece band called The Chasm and their brand of Technical Death Metal is a real treat to listen to, their sound is an amalgam of everything good in the genre but no band springs to mind immediately.

Most of the tracks are over 6 minutes and this gives them plenty of time to experiment with the songs and allows them space to explore the full potential of each song, which they do very well. Tracks like the epic 3 part "The Eclipse, Monument To The Empire" really is a trip into another dimension and when it fades after nearly 9 minutes you are lift thinking "why fade it, I’m not bored" and that’s the thing, it keeps your interest the whole time how many albums can you say that!

I can strongly recommend this CD because I know you will come back to it time and time again, stand out tracks; "Fortress", "The Eclipse, Monument To The Empire", "Conjuring The New Apocalypse", "The Omnipotent Codex" and "Retribution Of The Lost Years". A special mention must to the CD booklet as the artwork is really good and suits the music well.
