Cannibal Corpse are the most successful Death Metal band ever and have sold more DVD’s than any rivals so the popularity of the brand of Gore Death Metal is in no doubt.
Cannibal Corpse are the aural equivalent of watching an autopsy full of blood, guts and gruesome imagery but you cant help but look as their artwork displays but it’s more akin to a graphic novel with a very black sense of humour than reality, as the front cover bears out (gory but impossible). I have a theory that Metal like this is actually beneficial as it exorcises negative energy from the psyche that would otherwise have come out as a bad personality trait with disastrous consequence, like primal scream therapy, if you are studying psychology maybe it would be worth investigating.
The music on offer is as aggressive and full of hate as the cartoons suggest a soundtrack to your nightmare but like horror films very entertaining never the less and it’s the entertainment value that counts after all. As an added bonus the initial copies come complete with a free DVD of the making of the album and give a good insight to the band and entreating as well.
