Slayer are one of the originators of Thrash and apart form a couple of minor setbacks have stayed at the top of the tree since their inception in the early 80’s, 23 years ago and this is an over view of their entire career and as such is not just a best of it’s a gargantuan celebration of the masters.
Disc one is a digitally remastered best of and all the tracks you would expect are here with only a couple of minor exceptions. Disc two’s first half takes us from "Devine Inspiration" to present date but doesn’t just give you what you already have, it gives you Japanese bonus tracks and much, much more, there are loads of goodies on here. For example how about their version of the Iron Butterfly classic "In A Gadda Da Vida" from the "Less Than Zero" soundtrack and 7 other tracks that are hard to find or previously unreleased in various countries, like "Wicked", "Addict", "Human Disease" and "Unguarded Instinct.
The 3rd disc is the live disc, with tracks from the early years ’83 to present date’03, not just the major concerts, also included are very early versions of songs that would become legends recorded at band rehearsals, rough as a Badgers Arse but showing just why they became so big.
Just to make this indispensable there is a DVD with live footage from as wide arrange as the music disc and you cannot call yourself a SLAYER fan if you don’t get this and it’s just in time for Christmas.
