HATE FOREST / PURITY

Hate Forest are a Ukrainian band and like the forest on the front cover are dark, foreboding and yet very enticing. This is Death Metal with an unusual twist in the sound, throughout the entire album and through all the songs is a droning chord which sounds like an almighty Death Metal engine.

This is a soundtrack to a nightmare of the damned, full of dispare, regret and anger but like a flash food, you cant help but get carried away by the sheer brutal force of the thing. This is the aural equivalent of one of those magic eye pictures, where you have to unfocus your eyes to see the picture, only in this case you have to listen to the droning chord for everything to make sense and falls into place.

Two of the songs are over 11 minutes long and only seem to last 4 and some that are only 4 minutes seem to last 10, very curious. Check out"Domination", "Monoliths" and "Elder Race". I am sure that the droning interferes with the normal brain pattern as it screws up your perception of time.
