HASTE / THE MERCURY LIFT

Haste means hate of have in German depending on how you use the word but hate is not an emotion that springs to mind when you listen to this album. Hailing from Birmingham Alabama Haste are a mixture of Metal styles, with Hardcore and Pop Metal at the fore and it works very well indeed. I warmed to this CD when I saw the song titles "Death Of Stars Like The Sun", "Force Is Always An Option" and "With All The Pride & Grace & Dignity Of A Drowning Swimmer" to mention only a few.

The schizophrenic nature of the band breaks down into 2 parts, the Pop Metal side and the Hardcore side with the two differing vocal styles being blended together on several other tracks and when they work they work spectacularly, some of these could easily be hit single’s, "Suffer" and "The Rescued" being prime examples. Over all this are a very good CD and a very good example of how the Hardcore Metal crossover can work and be successful and not sell out.
