STONE SOUR / STONE SOUR

A Brief History by Justin Case

Are you sitting comfortably, right, a long time ago in a small American town, (well 10 years ago in Des Moines, to be precise) there was a band called Stone Sour. Their brand of fired up Nu Metal and Grunge melodies, where as popular as the Whiskey and Orange sour mix from which they took their name, all was going well until one day when out of the blue Cory (the singer) and his friend (the guitarist) said we are leaving to join a new band called Slipknot.

Several years later the whole world knows Slipknot but no one knew of Stone Sour, inspired by boredom, guilt or more likely a late night drinking session sipping Stone Sour's Cory and friend decide to get the band back together and a good job too.

More akin to Alice In Chains and a bit more understated than the Knot Stone Sour is full of great tracks. "Get Inside" is a killer mix of aggression and melody and that's not he only one, "Blotter", "Monolith" and ballad, yes ballad "Bother" are destined to grace MTV and a radio near you very soon. My personal favourite "Inhale" is typical of the bands sound and a catchy as measles in a primary school.
