RA / FROM ONE

Like the Trust Co. CD I reviewed a couple of months back, Ra are one of the 2nd Generation Alternative / Nu Metal bands to emerge, slicker than their peers in one sense and learning from their mistakes.

This has all the hallmarks of the first wave, Linkin Park, Staind, Limp Bizkit et al and has a more commercially focused direction, (if that’s possible) than the bands mentioned. The melodies are tight, the guitars rip but never too much that it distracts form the songs and will sound great coming out of your radio. Their twist is that they have an ethnic, Eastern feeling to their music, it doesn’t strike you immediately but this may be in their favour as bands like that have a tendency to grow on you and before you know where you are you cant get that song out of your head.

Songs to watch out for include; 'Only', 'On My Side', 'Parole', 'High Sensitivity' and 'Sky', I feel that Ra will be a band to watch out for in the new year and like the Egyptian sun god they are named after they will shine.
