PITCHSHIFTER / PSI
One of the surprises this year was Pitchshifter being dropped from Geffen but their loss is new label Mayan's gain as this is a stonking CD. This British band has had degrees of varying success and a change of label has done them good. Sounding a bit like Filter in places, (yes it's that good) their blend of Hip Hop and Dance rhythms mixed with some great heavy chords makes this a totally indispensable CD.
It opens with an R & B beat which initially makes you wonder if the right CD is in the tray but then the Metal kicks in with a vengeance and "Stop Talking So Loud" shifts into top gear. It's followed by the single "Eight Days" which is prime Pitchshifter and no mistake and the tracks "Misdirected" and "Down" will be well received when done live, this is the guys on top form, Geffen must be kicking themselves. If you didn’t get hold of the limited CD single don’t worry as the extra track "Trancer" is slipped in as the obligatory hidden track.
TOTAL PLAYING TIME = 47 mins + 13 Tracks
