I may have mentioned this before, but the only form of music that I absolutely cant abide is opera and guess what, this is Operatic Metal, yes there is such a thing and Finnish band Nightwish are probably the best at it.
The first time I heard this band it was a version of "Walking In The Air", yes the snowman song and to be Frank (well Justin) I wasn’t sure what the hell to make of it, was it a joke, was it a wind up or rare they for real. The only conclusion I could come to was that their was something there but I wasn't sure what it was or if I liked it, and if you haven't heard of them before, it will probably strike you the same way.
The Female vocalist is obviously classically trained and I have to admit that she has a good voice, the band are very tight proficient and know how to Rock, the songs are so over the top it brings a new meaning to the word. As for the version of "Phantom Of The Opera" it left me with a puzzled expression on my face but some how it did something for me but I just don’t know what.
