KOTIPELTO / WAITING FOR THE DAWN

Take one lead singer with Stratovarius, several friends from HIM, Brainstorm, Symphony X, Children Of Bodom, put together in a studio for about 4 weeks and leave to simmer and what do you get? a bloody good album that's what.

Of the 2 solo albums from the great Stratovarius I did expect Timmo Tolkki's to be the best of the two but I was disappointed so, when I downloaded a track from Kotipelto I wasn't expecting much but what a surprise, the guy sings his heart out and with some great songs and some very big guest appearances this is a winner.

The album's concept is based around Ancient Egyptian mythology and this helps pin everything together and makes it interesting at the same time. The sound is very much Classic Rock, Deep Purple / Rainbow etc but given a 21st Century twist and to here a proper Hammond organ on the songs is magic. The track titles speak for themselves, "Lord Of Eternity", "Battle Of The Gods", "Waiting For The Dawn" and the epic "Chosen By Re" you cannot listen to these tracks and not be impressed by the sheer beauty of their rocking magnificence.
