IMMOLATION / UNHOLY CULT

Inspired by the "Of Martyrs & Men" track in my top 10 Downloads of November I went out and bought a copy of the album from which it was taken and what a cracker it is too.

This is Death Metal of the highest order and like the Nile and Satyricon releases it is very much inspired by the now defunct Emperor and imitation being the sincerest form of flattery the ex Emperor guys must be well pleased.

This is Death Metal for the 21st Century and the thing that strikes me the most is the brutal precision of the twin guitars, which never put a fret wrong anywhere and deliver a face melting blast from the speakers. The quality of "Wolf In The Fold", "Unholy Cult" and "Reluctant Messiah" cannot be denied and even the lyrical content is way above average for this genre.

I am very fussy about Death Metal and it has to be really good to get my attentions and believe me, it did get my attention. If you haven't done so, go to the link below and download the Martyrs track, you will not be disappointed.
