Canadian Progressive Power Metal band Eidolon, swiftly follow up last years Hallowed Apparition and what a cracker it is too, Power Metal tinged with some Doom and a touch of Death and enough ROCK to keep everybody happy. They sound sometimes like early Machine Head crossed with Black Sabbath and the Scorpions and if that is not enough to wet your appetite I don’t know what is.
The last track "Within the Gates" is 18 minutes of pure magic and it will keep you interested all the way to the end, vocalist Pat Mulock sings his heart out and a special mention to Glen Drover whose guitar work is exemplary throughout. "Day Of Infamy", "Coma Nation" and the Doom laden "Pentacle Star" are all fine tracks and deserve to be heard. There are a lot of CD’s around like this at the moment and most don’t deserve half the attention they get but Eidolon do.
