DOWNTHESUN / DOWNTHESUN

Downthesun are the latest signings to the ever-expanding RR roster and yet again they have a little cracker on their hands. They remind me at times of Coal Chamber at their best, twisted modern metal with a hint of melody and a lot of angst.

If you got the recent free New Shit sampler (reviewed w/c 26/08/02) you will know the "Medicated" and know that it's starts off with a slow burn and boils into a sonic heaving mass. "Pure American Filth" and We All Die" are more typical and more aggressive, while "Pitiful" is the stand out track for me that begs to have a video made of it and splashed all across MTV and Kerrang TV.

Overall this is another fine slab of blistering Metal from those very talented people at Roadrunner and one to watch out for.
