Two years ago there were 3 key debut releases, one from Linkin Park, one from Papa Roach and the other from Disturbed. This was Nu Metal in it's infancy, out of the three release's I personally thought that The Sickness was the strongest and yet out of the 3 bands Disturbed seem to be the least successful.
Believe has come in for quite a bit of criticism in the major press and the reason for this is that this is not an instant album. All the tracks are as good as anything on their debut and none of them jump out at you instantly, (which is what your average jurno is looking for), what this requires is more than a cursory 2 or 3 plays.
The first single in the UK is the leadoff track "Prayer" and set's the CD off to a fine start, if you like this you will love the rest of it. After a few plays, "Rise", "Breathe", "Liberate" and "Mistress" surface as strong tracks but there are no bad tracks on this CD.
Don’t expect to be instantly at one with Believe, because you wont, patience however will reward you with a fine album.
