AMON AMARTH / VS THE WORLD

I have been looking forward to getting this CD since I downloaded the opening track "Death In Fire" (that has been in my Top 10 Downloads for the last three months) and if like me you love this track the rest of the album will not disappoint.

Amon Amarth are Death Metal with a Viking streak and all the songs are epic tales of bravery and betrayal. The mix of almost Power Metal ish tunes are helped along by some thunderous double bass drumming and ferocious guitars, with a hint of melody and this, juxtaposed by the gruff vocals is undeniably top notch stuff. The quality of songs like "Across The Rainbow Bridge", "Where The Stone Gods Stand Guard", "Thousand Years Of Oppression" and "Bloodshed" cannot be ignored, why this band is not huge internationally is beyond me.

This is not a concept album but because all the songs have a lose theme they gel together as a whole, a nice CD to finish off the year with. Hope they tour soon.
