There are very few bands that deserve all the press that they get but Tool is one of the few exceptions. They continue to challenge the listener's pre conceptions of their music and almost dare you not to like it. Their music has a strange surreal somnambulistic quality that is both disturbing and strangely compelling, drawn like a moth to the flame, you know what's going to happen but it's so beautiful you cant resist it. Tracks such as Schism demonstrate this perfectly building from almost nothing to a crescendo, like Pink Floyd crossed with Pantera. Even the artwork for the CD is enigmatic and typical of the band; it looks almost plain on the outside with a see through inlay booklet, which matches their minimalist approach.
