DRAGONLORD / RAPTURE

Eric Peterson is best known for his work with Testament but this Black Metal side project proves that he is no one trick pony. Downtuneing his guitar and handling the vocals himself, this not surprisingly well written and gives the likes of Cradle Of Filth and Dimmu Borgir a good run for their money and if this was a permanent band, they would both be worried.

Opening with an atmospheric keyboard piece, as most seem to do it sets you up nicely for the rest of the CD and all the tracks are excellent and would not sound out of place on either of the aforementioned bands current albums. Eric's guitar playing is going to be what most Testament fans are interested in and this is as always faultless.

The only problem I have with this album is that it's too short, clocking in at just over 35 minutes. Some of the tracks could have been longer or maybe a couple more wouldn't have gone a miss, but these minor gripes aside this is a very good album and the artwork is stunning as well. Standout tracks include, "Tradition And Fire", "Judgement Failed" and "Spirit's In The Mist".
