ENTOMBED / INFERNO

How do you follow up a successful album like “Morning Star”? That’s the problem that was faced by Entombed and the answer is you don’t, you regroup and come up with something completely different.

For long term fans this is a return to former glories, as Inferno is closer in spirit to “Wolverine Blues” and “Left Hand Path” than “Morning Star”, sounding meaner, dirtier and hungrier than they have for quite a while, this is grindcore. The patent Death and Roll is here, as is the Black humour, aptly demonstrated by “That’s When I Became A Satanist”, a brooding, Metallic frenzy of Riffing, with the tongue firmly stuck in cheek and a great shouting chorus.

The tracks “Young And Dead”, “Skull Of Steel” and “Descend Into Inferno” are just as pleasing to the ear and whets more there are plenty more where they came from

Entombed keep coming up with the goods, with albums like this you can see why they’re a multi award wining band.

NIGHTRAGE / SWEET VENGEANCE

There is a lot of competition on the Melodic Death metal at the moment and now there is another name to contend with, Nightrage. This band is based in Gotenberg so you know what to expect and you won’t be disappointed.

Nightrage have a secret weapon to hand in the shape of Gus G, whose guitar work is exemplary throughout and lifts them above the rest, especially if you like blinding solo’s and great shredding riffs. He used to be in a Power Metal band called Dream Evil and this unusual background helps to make the Nightrage sound a little different to the rest of the pack. The vocals are the usual type except for a couple of tracks, especially “Circle Of Pain” where he actually sings normally and during this slower number they sound more like a Power metal band than a Death Metal band but still very, very good.

Stand out tracks include, “The Tremor”,”At The Ends Ot The Earth”, “The Glow Of The Setting Sun” and “Ethereal”.
