AMORPHIS / ECLIPSE

This is a welcome return to form for this Gothic Metal band, full of good songs, played with perfection and a top notch production to boot make this an essential purchase for all fans of Paradise Lost, Sentenced and Pink Floyd.

There is plenty of heaviness here as opening track "Twin Moons" and " Born From Fire" aptly demonstrate, full of great riffs, some nice keyboard touches and both melodic and gruff vocals make for a Modern Classic sound that is great to listen to. There is a softer, folksier side to the band that surfaces from time to time especially on "Perkle, God of Fire" and the last track with some nice flute playing worthy of the great Ian Anderson not to mention some very good and perfectly placed piano.

Overall this is a superb album and if you haven’t bought an Amorphis CD since Tounela then this is the one for you and this made album of the week on my Pipeline show in March and deservedly so.
